Evidence summary
GitHub’s November 2010 engineering blog described Vicent as a 20-year-old Catalan developer working toward a degree while building libgit2. Edward Thomson’s 2024 libgit2 history and Google Summer of Code archives confirm the 2010 GSoC sponsored by GitHub. GitHub’s March 29, 2011 “Vicent Marti is a GitHubber” post states he was hired full-time after contractor work following GSoC; Tom Preston-Werner separately noted the hire was based on open-source proof without a technical interview.
