Mitchell grew up in Marietta, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, and took up photography as a teenager documenting the local skateboarding scene. He shot music videos for rapper Kevin Abstract during college and worked with Teen Vogue before being selected by Beyonce to shoot the historic September 2018 Vogue cover.
