Salvatore Sanfilippo

Researchers / independent engineers · Software/Tech · milestone at age 21 ·T2 Field-leading
Milestone (age 21)
Created and released hping, a widely used TCP/IP packet generator/analyzer for network security testing, around 1998 at about age 21 (born 7 March 1977); also invented the idle scan technique implemented by nmap.
Born 7 March 1977 in Campobello di Licata, Sicily; moved to Palermo at 17 intending architecture studies then shifted to computing. Built security tools in the late 1990s (hping, idle scan). Later created Redis in 2009 (age 32), which became the globally dominant in-memory data structure server.

Question four · where did the leverage come from?

Salvatore Sanfilippo's leverage provenance

Each non-zero lever gets a best-supported origin, evidence signals, and confidence. Unresolved is the honest default when the biography cannot distinguish self-built, advantage-enabled, earned, external, or mixed.

This is a bounded inference from the current annotations—not a claim about private effort, merit, or the percentage of Salvatore Sanfilippo's outcome attributable to any origin.

Luck is not a leftover score.

Structural luck, Encounter luck, Event luck, Outcome variance can change every arrow in the path. This successful-only dataset cannot observe the near-identical paths that did not break through, so luck stays visible and unscored.

Within Researchers / independent engineers, Salvatore Sanfilippo's starting-advantage total is at the 20th percentile. Separately, their built or converted leverage total is at the 38th percentile. Other T2 profiles average 7.9 / 24 starting advantage and 12.3 / 25 leverage. Similar scores appear in other tiers, so these figures describe positioning—not a cause.
