Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, to parents who were both volleyball players on Bulgarian national teams, Kaziyski started training at Slavia Sofia's junior team as a setter. He won the Bulgarian national cup at age 14. By 2003, at age 19, he earned bronze at the FIVB U21 World Championship as best spiker and joined the senior national team. He moved to Dynamo Moscow in 2005 and won the Russian Championship, then joined Trentino Volley in Italy in 2007.
