Born in Kerch, Ukrainian SSR, Efrosinina graduated high school with a gold medal (honour roll) and enrolled in the Department of Foreign Languages at Kyiv University, graduating as an interpreter of English and Spanish. She soon received an invitation from the New Channel to co-host the morning show Podjom (Rise), which won the Teletriumph Award for Best TV Show in 2002. By 2005, she was selected to co-host the Eurovision Song Contest from Kyiv.
