Won the FIDE World Chess Championship in December 2024 at age 18, defeating Ding Liren to become the youngest undisputed world chess champion in history.

Gukesh learned chess at age 7 in Chennai and quickly showed prodigious talent, winning the World Youth Chess Championship under-12 title in 2018.
