He began his career with RK Mehanika Metković. At age 18, he moved to RK Zagreb-Chromos, one of the top Croatian clubs, where he won two consecutive European Cups in 1992 and 1993. He was a member of the Croatian national team from 1992 to 2005, winning Olympic gold at the 1996 Atlanta Games and again at the 2004 Athens Games. He also won World Championship gold in 2003, silver in 1995 and 2005, and European Championship bronze in 1994.
