The band quickly became one of the most popular in Estonia, blending renaissance music intonations with progressive rock influenced by King Crimson, Yes, and Emerson Lake & Palmer. He left In Spe in 1984 to concentrate on composition, studying with Jaan Rääts at the Tallinn Conservatoire and privately with Lepo Sumera.
