Keep the mechanisms. Drop the identity. Eric Lindros was born on February 28, 1973, in London, Ontario. As a teenage power forward in minor hockey, he became nationally famous for his scoring feats and ability to physically dominate older players. He played for St. Michael's Buzzers in Metro Junior B at age 15, scoring 67 points in 37 games. After a dispute with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, he joined the Oshawa Generals midway through the 1989-90 season and immediately helped them win the Memorial Cup. In 1990-91, he won the Red Tilson Trophy as OHL MVP and was named CHL Player of the Year. He was drafted first overall by the Quebec Nordiques in 1991 but refused to play, eventually being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 1992. He won the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP in 1994-95.
